Holiday Bin Schedule

Know your bin schedule this holiday season For the upcoming holidays, there is no pick up on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day for residential homes with carts.   Make sure you know your schedule and sign up for free reminders by visiting calgary.ca/collection.   If you normally put your blue, green or black carts out on Wednesday, put your cart(s) out two days earlier on the Monday. Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019) pick up will move to Monday, Dec. 23, 2019. New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020) pick up will move to Monday, Dec. 30, 2019.


Recycle Right: Safety Edition

  Many things just don’t belong in the blue bin. Not only are they not blue bin recyclable, but they can cause serious safety risks for your collector, staff and equipment at the recycling facility. There have been several major fires at the recycling sorting facility this year because of people putting dangerous items in their blue carts that they shouldn’t. Doing this endangers lives and forces the temporary closure of the facility. Think before you put something that is potentially explosive and deadly into a recycling bin. Keep these types of items out of the blue bin: · Batteries are the #1 cause of fires at the recycling facility. This includes batteries from laptops, cameras and AA batteries. West Calgary Ring Road Construction Notice

West Calgary Ring Road Construction Notice – September 2019Bow River Pathway Construction  This fall there will be ongoing work at the far west end of Bowness Park underneath the Stoney Trail NW bridge. A second bridge over the Bow River is being constructed for the West Calgary Ring Road. Starting in early September, construction on a new pathway alignment and staircase will begin. The new pathway alignment (1 – shown on the plan below) replaces a section of pathway (2) in an area needed for the construction, and the new staircase (3) will provide an alternate connection for a temporary pathway closure (4). The pathway will be closed temporarily in late October or early November for approximately three weeks to perform preparatory site works in this area. As a result of the continuing jobs crisis here in Calgary, MPs Michelle Rempel and Pat Kelly are holding a free Career Services event. This is not a job fair. This event aims to assist those who are looking for work by connecting them with service providers and resources that can assist with job search, resume writing, interview skills, enhance online job search techniques and more. Mobile Adventure Playground Coming to Tuscany

Coming to Tuscany on Saturday June 15th! A space for kids to rediscover play. The mobile adventure playground is not a registered program, but a playground that offers a different way to play. Onsite play ambassadors are there to inspire play and keep the playground safe, but not directly supervise the children. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their children play and see how their imaginations soar in this new adventure space. What are adventure playgrounds? Adventure playgrounds are dynamic spaces where children can explore, create, imagine and learn in their own way. They contain a variety of materials and loose parts such as boards, tires, tape and cardboard that children are free to use to build, demolish, assemble and change their environments as they desire.
